We Are There for Our Heroes
About Veterans for Christ

My name is Mike Saunders out of Shady Acres Baptist Church, Pastor Danny Farley. The Lord called me to the Veterans for Christ Ministry in September of 2015. There are Approximately 181,000 Veterans just in Harris County where we live. We have an open door to visit at the Michael E. Debakey Veterans Hospital here in Houston where there are from 1,000 to 1,500 patients there in different areas five days a week.
In addition there are two apartment buildings close to downtown with 1,100 Veterans living there who are without families. According to VA policy we are not able to have services there or go door to door soul-winning. However, we can go there and visit with them any time in the recreation/dining area where we have made many friends and have brought some to church. One Navy Veteran, Robert Young was saved this past December and is a blessing to everyone he meets. You can enjoy his testimony in the Veteran Presentation.
We have two goals. One is to give these men and women the gospel and bring them to church to hear the preaching. The other is to have them spend as much time with us to learn the joy of the Christian life and get a burden for souls themselves.

A very special "Thank You!!" to OMNI Construction Inc. in Beachwood, Ohio for their generous donation of 47 bundles of unusable lumber to G.I's Friend Inc. Total value is $56,000.00 and we were able to sell it for $18,500.00. A warm "Thank You!!" to their project manager, Doug Williams, our friend for many years out of Hamburg, NY, who initiated the donation, and to Mr. Dennis Opsitnik, OMNI's Controller who gave the OK to release it to G.I's Friend Inc. 100 Percent of all donations are used to assist the Veterans of Texas and we are looking to do more for them in 2018.
